As part of the New Work process, the New Work project team is offering topic-related lectures and cordially invites you to participate. It will start on July 5, 2022 with a scientific lecture by our scientific lead Prof. Dr. Lehmann-Willenbrock.
Topic: Meetings as a challenge for leadership
Meetings significantly shape our experience and behavior in the workplace. Even before the COVID-19 pandemic, employees spent an average of six hours per week and leaders up to 80% of their work time in meetings. With the shift to virtual formats, meeting stress has also increased - keyword "zoom fatigue".
From a research perspective, meetings provide unique insights into the organization. In meetings, we collaborate, share opinions, develop new ideas, make decisions, manage social relationships, and develop strategies. Good meetings have been shown to increase job satisfaction and individual well-being and contribute to team productivity of teams. Leaders have a key role to play in making meetings successful.
This presentation will highlight empirical findings on interaction patterns during meetings, the challenges of virtual meetings, the role of meetings in agile work, and evidence-based recommendations for leading meetings.
